The Southern African Society for Medieval and Renaissance Studies (SASMARS) aims to promote scholarly interest and research in Medieval and Renaissance Studies in Southern Africa and further afield.

Its biennial conferences provide a forum for local and international academics and senior students to present their work in congenial surroundings, forging important links between international scholars and their Southern African counterparts.

The next conference will take place in 2028, at the Mont Fleur Conference Venue in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

The Society’s journal, The Southern African Journal of Medieval and Renaissance Studies, is being digitised and can be found at this SASMARS WiredSpace-Extra link.

The SASMARS Newsletter has also been resurrected and can be read and subscribed to at the SASMARS Newsletter Substack.
